Why do I see two charges on my credit card?

Understanding Your Credit Card Statement

Noticed an unexpected extra charge on your credit card after booking with Super Travel? Let’s clarify what might be happening:

Temporary Pre-Authorization Holds:

  • When you book a room, your bank may place a temporary hold (pre-authorization) on your funds to ensure the transaction can be processed.
  • This is common practice in online transactions, especially for bookings.
  • What to Expect: This hold is usually released within 2-3 business days. If you need access to these funds sooner, please contact your bank for quicker resolution.

Possible Double Charge:

  • If you suspect you've been charged twice for a booking, first compare the two charges. Look for differences in amounts, dates, or descriptions.
  • Immediate Steps: If both charges are identical and it appears to be a double charge, please contact us directly. Our customer support team is ready to investigate and resolve any billing discrepancies.

Understanding the Hold Process:

When you initiate a booking with Super Travel, your bank may place a temporary hold on your funds. This hold, known as pre-authorization, is a standard procedure in online transactions, particularly in the hospitality industry, to confirm the availability of funds for the booking.

Scenarios Leading to Holds:

  • Initial Booking Attempt: As you attempt to book a room, a pre-authorization hold is placed to secure the transaction.
  • Sold-Out Situations: Sometimes, if the room you're trying to book is already sold out, the booking may not go through successfully. However, the pre-authorization hold might still be applied by your bank.
  • Subsequent Booking Attempts: If you try booking again, a second pre-authorization might occur. This can lead to seeing two holds on your account, even though only one booking is successful.

What to Expect and How to Respond:

  • Release of Holds: Generally, these pre-authorization holds are automatically released within 2-3 business days.
  • Immediate Funds Access: If you need these funds to be available sooner, you should contact your bank directly to expedite the release.
  • Final Charge Posting: Only one charge, corresponding to the successful booking, will eventually be posted to your account. The other pre-authorization hold, if any, from an unsuccessful attempt, will not convert into a charge.
